Popular Church Leader And His Wife Arrested For Fraudulent Practices

A well renowned church leader Shepherd Bushiri along with his wife is arrested by the police for fraudulent practices involved approx R15.3m. They are accused for doing fraud practices along with the money laundering charges involving more than R15.3m which is a huge amount.

The police have confirmed their arrest on Friday, but did not name of the couple to the media. The church, however, issued a statement confirming that resurrection pastor- Bushiri and his wife, Mary, were taken by the hawks into custody on fraud and money laundering charges. Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said on Friday that the arrest has been taken place when the couple was in the lavish hotel in Rustenburg and enjoying their stay after the loot. The couple is charged due to the alleged offences of fraud, money laundering and contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA). Most of the crimes were committed from 2015 in relation to Exchange Control Regulations, which was associated with the foreign currency in an amount of $1,147,200 (about R15.3m).

As per the church statement at about 7am on Friday, armed forces reached at the hotel- the Sparkling Waters in Rustenburg and they took the prophet along with the mother Prophetess, the wife of fake prophet- Mary Bushiri, in handcuffs to Pretoria. It was questioned by Hawks in Silverton Pretoria - last year, they have struggled with reports that their father Bushiri was guilty and he has been detained later for further processing in the court and to unveil the A-Z crimes done by the couple.
